It’s been about two weeks since the elevator at the O’Fallon Nursing Home went down, and there’s still no word on whether it’s been repaired or restarted. The residents of this building are elderly and it is difficult for them to use the stairs. Also, some of them use wheelchairs. For this reason, since the elevator in the nursing home was cut off, they are unable to leave their rooms.
One of the residents says, “I missed my doctor’s appointment last week because of the elevator breakdown. Because I couldn’t go down the stairs.”
The cause of the failure of the elevator is the lightning striking the building. After the lightning strike, the building’s electricity was suddenly cut off and this caused the elevator to break down.
Kone Elevator is the contracted company for the maintenance of the elevator, which announced that a technician was sent to check the elevator on April 17 and we are waiting for his report. We also hope to have the elevator back to normal within the next 10 days.
