The breakdown of the Hermantown building’s elevator has caused concern for elderly residents
All elevators in the Maple Grove building in Hermantown are reportedly out of order. Due to the failure of the Hermantown building’s elevator, life is difficult for the residents of the upper floors of this building. This building has 36 units for the elderly and disabled.
According to the residents, it was planned that the elevator would be renovated and overhauled in December 2023, but this renovation was postponed because some parts were not available.
“I live on the second floor and I’m really worried about the people on the upper floors because they’re locked in their houses and they can’t get up and down the stairs,” said resident Mary Mishler. He also said: “If something happens, for example, there is a fire, the lives of all the people who live on the upper floors will be in danger.”
“We just want to know when the elevator is going to be repaired and usable,” Mary Mishler said.
The building manager announced that the time needed to build a 35-foot hydraulic jack and send it is 9 to 12 weeks. It has now been about 8 weeks since the Hermantown building elevator failure and our announcement to build a new jack and we are guessing the new jack will be here in the next few weeks and then it will take a week to install the new jack.
