The Revelstoke City Council unanimously allocated $583,879 to improve the Revelstoke Museum’s vertical transportation. This money will be used to install an elevator at the Revelstoke Museum.

After evaluating and reviewing the museum and many meetings and consultations, the Board of Directors intends to proceed with the elevator installation program at the Revelstoke Museum. In 2021, the council recommended that a letter of support be submitted to the Revelstoke community to determine the funding needed to install an elevator. This request was made during 2022 and the budget for this project was also added to the investment plan for 2022 to 2026.

Design costs were included in the 2022 capital plan, amounting to $40,000. The Revelstoke Museum Board of Directors has successfully secured funding to cover the entire cost of the design.

Funding comes from several financial sources, including grants from the District of Columbia, provincial resort municipal funds, and federal cultural spaces. A total of $625,000 was provided from these sources for the installation of the elevator. Also, the amount of 92,200 dollars has been collected by social organizations and non-governmental organizations.
