Ormond Builders will begin work on the elevator on the west side of the building beginning the first week of April. The goal of this team is to reduce disruptions in the movement of visitors. During the work, the west side door of the facility office will be blocked. The first elevator in Idaho Falls City Hall will be installed in 94 years.

“Having accessible services in Idaho Falls is a top priority for us,” said Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper. “We are here to serve the residents of the city and bringing this elevator is a big step in facilitating access for all.”

The installation of the first elevator in the Idaho Falls City Hall will make the hall fully accessible to people with disabilities or limited mobility, and with the new elevator, people will have the opportunity to more easily access the offices of other departments.

Local architectural firm Resin Architecture has completed the elevator design work. The elevator design will maintain the look and feel of the building, which has not changed much since its construction in 1929 and 1930.

The cost of the elevator is financed using money that the municipality received under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Project updates and additional information will be shared on City of Idaho Falls social media channels.
