Otis Formally Announces Burj Khalifa Modernization and Service Contract
Judy Marks, president and CEO of Otis Company, announced the selection of Otis Company for the renovation, service and maintenance of Burj Khalifa’s elevators. In a recent call, Marks announced that Otis was the winner of the renovation and services tender for the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building in Dubai, UAE.
The company officially announced the deal on March 6. The contract details the selection of Otis to refurbish 34 elevators and 8 escalators, as well as provide service and maintenance for all elevator and escalator systems for 10 years.
Otis installed the building’s original elevators and escalators in 2010. The elevator management system EMS Panorama, which continuously monitors system performance, is replaced by an upgraded version. The system allows building staff and Otis technicians to remotely control equipment.
The system will also manage a full range of critical functions to facilitate shorter wait times and faster, more efficient journeys. Enrique Miñarro Viseras, Head of Otis Middle East and Africa, said: “Otis has had a colorful presence in the UAE and we are proud of our work at Burj Khalifa.”
