London’s Historic BT Tower To Become Hotel
With its new American owner, Heathwick Studios plans to renovate the historic BT Tower in London, UK, and turn it into a hotel. Inaugurated in 1965 by then Prime Minister Harold Wilson, the tower is a landmark on the capital’s skyline. The tower is now Grade II listed.
At 177 meters high, BT London’s historic tower was the tallest building in London at the time of its opening, and until 1980, when the NatWest Tower was built, it was the most famous building. BT Tower London has been operated by the BT Group since 1984. Due to the scale and complexity of the work to move the technical equipment, the group will take several years to vacate the premises, giving its new owner time to develop its proposals.
