Elevator Caretaker Dies in India Elevator Incident

A 57-year-old elevator caretaker was recently crushed to death at a 15-story building on JL Nehru Road near Park Street Metro station in Kolkata, India, The Times of India reported. One of the elevators that was being repaired at the time came down onto the man from a higher floor. He had reportedly worked in the building for the past 30 years. Officials say they have a couple theories as to what happened, but two of the building’s lifts were being repaired that day with the lift doors open and signs up. The lifts had reportedly been malfunctioning for several weeks. A crisis management team and forensic experts are looking into the incident.
